Insulation Joints

Braun stahl pipe tec – Insulation Joints Type ISG, Type IML and Type ISN are
Monobloc or Monolithic Insulation Joint

Standardized and specialized designs are available, following some features:

  • for the installation into steel pipelines as stainless steel, carbon steel and copper
  • for the electrical isolation from one pipe side to the other pipe side
  • for installation within a cathodic protected system or for a galvanic isolation of different pipe materials
  • the Monobloc Insulation Joint Type ISG is tested in our works, so installation into the pipeline can be done by welding or by flange connection. There is no need of demounting of parts on site for the installation
  • force-locked joint design
  • with weld ends, with extended pipe pups in order that field welds can be post weld heat treated (PWHT), with flanged end connections, with compression fitting connections, with male/female screw connection
  • Designs available for all pressure ratings
  • Designs available for all Diameters – from ¼” up 80″ (6 mm to 2000 mm)
  • Designs available for additional external forces – as bending up to 90% of SMYS of connecting pipe, Torsion up to 10% of SMYS of connecting pipe, axial and transversal forces following the requirements of client, for alternation of loads and for earthquake requirements
  • Designs available for temperatures from -50°C up to 200°C
  • Design and selection of materials for all services: gas, potable water, sewage waters, salt water, oil, sour gas, Kerosine, petrol, propane, butane, ethylene, oxygen, nitrogen, ammonia, sulfor, multi purpose service, and more
  • Sealing systems available with non-aging O-ring seals, backing rings, special materials and special shapes of seals, with qualification for rapid decompression service and low temperatures
  • electrical isolation with thermosetting resins – plastics, ceramics, enemals
  • Designs available for the installation overground, underground, offshore, under water, in potentially explosive atmospheres – ATEX zone 1 ( DGRL 94/9/EC)
  • with external mounted and approved Explosion spark gap acc. to EN 60079-0, EN60079-1, EN 60079-31 for ATEX zone 1 atmospheres, the spark gap is remouvable
  • electrical resistance across the Insulation Joint from 50 MegaOhms up to 200 MegaOhms measured at 500 Volts DC or 1000 Volts DC
  • electrical high voltage strength test at 5000 Volts (AC 50 Hz), designed for 20000 Volts
  • External coating and internal lining with PU, Epoxy resin based paint, Rubber, Enemal, PTFE and others as per requirements
  • Steel materials acc. to EN, ASTM, API, ASME and other international standards with inspection certification acc. to EN10204-3.1 or EN10204-3.2
  • Inspection and tests of the Insulation Joints acc. to Pressure Equipment directive PED 97/23, TRFL (german technical rules for transmission pipelines), EN1594, DIN 2470 Teil1, ASME Code, API, ASTM, NEN 3650-2:2012 (Eisen voor buisleidingsystemen), AD2000 (German pressure vessel code) and other international standards and as per requirements of the the project

Tests and Inspections: Hydrostatic pressure tests, Pneumatic tightness tests, Helium-Tightness tests, electrical resistance tests, electrical high voltage strength tests, RT, UT, DPT, all non-destructive and desctructive tests of welds and steel materials, paint thickness measurements, adhesion tests of paints, holiday tests, Positive material identification test (PMI), mechanical tests of the Monobloc-Insulation Joint Type ISG with bending and torsional moments, thermal and hydraulic cycles, and others on request.
